The CLP Group (SEHK: 2) (Chinese: 中電集團 Pinyin: Zhòngdiàn Jítuán, CLP), which started out in 1901 as China Light and Power Company, Limited, is headquartered in Hong Kong, where it operates a vertically integrated electricity generation, transmission and distribution business. Its modern network supplies over 2.2 million customer accounts in Kowloon, the New Territories and most of the outlying islands, representing over 80 per cent of Hong Kong’s total population. In recent years, CLP increasingly invests in and operates energy businesses in Australia, the China mainland and elsewhere in the Asia region. It is a leading investor-operator in the Asia-Pacific electric power sector. CLP Holdings Limited (中電控股有限公司 pinyin:Zhòngdiàn Kònggǔ Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī , SEHK: 0002), the holding company for the CLP Group, is one of the most widely held and actively traded stocks on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. CLP was the first Hang Seng listed company to publish an Environmental, Health and Safety Report. It has since published yearly reports on its environmental and social impact.
