The eudicots (plural) are a group of plants, recognised by the APG II system, of 2003 (and previously in the APG system, of 1998). It is a clade, and has not been assigned a rank or a formal botanical name. Going by number of species the clade eudicots is the most important grouping of the angiosperms (flowering plants).
