Chemistry is the third album by British all-girl pop group Girls Aloud. It was released by Polydor Records on December 5 2005 in the United Kingdom. The album was produced by the production team of Brian Higgins and Xenomania. Upon its debut, critical reception was generally positive, with The Guardian, NME, and Top Of The Pops including it on their best-of year-end album charts. Chemistry became the group's first album to miss the top ten on the UK albums chart, peaking at number eleven. However, it sold exceptionally well in the first few weeks and went on to be certified platinum - outselling the band's debut. In Australia and New Zealand, the album was released on February 20 2006; however, it failed to generate much interest.

Chart performance

Chemistry debuted at #11 on the UK Albums Chart, falling from it's midweeks position #5. Since its release it has achieved platinum certification in the UK, where after only seven weeks, it dropped out of the UK Top 75. It has since re-charted for a total of ten non-consecutive weeks.

In Ireland it debuted at #34, going on to peak at number #31 four weeks later. The lack of success of the album there led to the lack of an Irish leg for the group's Chemistry Tour 2006.

"Singapore", a track recorded during the album sessions that was not picked for the final album is now available on The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits compilation limited edition bonus disc.

"On My Way To Satisfaction", a track recorded during the album sessions that was not picked for the final album is now available on St Trinian's soundtrack. Footage of Sarah recording the track was shown on Girls Aloud: Home Truths. The song is registered on ASCAP under the name "Red Raw".^[1]
