Dimitrios Spanoulis (born January 1, 1979, in Larissa, Greece) is a Greek professional basketball player. He started his career playing for AEL 1964 BC in 2001 and he transferred to several teams, Makedonikos BC, Xanthi BC, and to his current team, MENT BC in the A2 Ethniki. He plays both the point guard and shooting guard positions on the basketball court. Dimitris led the A2 Ethniki in scoring average with Xanthi BC during the 2006-07 basketball season, with a scoring average of 27.4 points per game. As a result he was voted to the A2 Ethniki All-Domestic Team, the League First Team, and he was named the league's Domestic Player of the Year, Guard of the Year, and MVP.[1] Dimitris is the elder brother of fellow Greek basketball star Vasileios Spanoulis, a member of the Greek National Team, who currently plays for Panathinaikos BC and formerly played for the NBA's Houston Rockets. Dimitris competed against Vasileios in the ULEB Cup competition in 2005 when he played for Makedonikos BC and his younger brother Vasileios played for Maroussi BC. In European basketball the two are nicknamed "The Spanoulis Brothers". External links
