The film is a historical drama set during the reign of Elizabeth I, played by Flora Robson and focusing on the English defeat of the Spanish Armada, whence the title. It is notable for providing the first pairing of Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, and it also stars Raymond Massey and Leslie Banks. James Mason (no relation to the author of the novel on which the film is based) has a bit part as a British traitor. The film is now in the public domain. Cast
