Kampot is a city in Cambodia, with a population of 39.186 in 1998.

The city is a quiet riverside town just a few kilometers from the Gulf of Thailand. It makes a good basecamp for exploring Bokor National Park and the Bokor Hill Station. The former French resort is now in ruins and can be reached by pickup truck, dirtbike or bicycle. The beachtown of Kep is also only about an hour away. Before the war, Kampot was best known for its famous pepper, which is still widely available in Cambodia.
