The Khalkhyn gol (Mongolian: Халхын гол, Khalkha river; Chinese: 哈拉哈河) is a river in eastern Mongolia and northern China. The length of the river is 232 km. The Khalkha river is famous for the Battle of Khalkhyn Gol, where Soviet and Mongolian forces defeated the Japanese Kwantung Army in August 1939. |
