The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Crystal Mover is an automated people mover (APM) popular for airport and light rail applications. The Crystal Mover is based on the Japanese APM standard, used in six Japanese light rail systems including the Yurikamome and the Rokko Island Line.[1]
Light railIn Singapore, Crystal Movers operate on the Sengkang Light Rapid Transit and the Punggol Light Rapid Transit. These cars have been operating since 2002 on the Sengkang LRT for testing and on the Punggol LRT since its operation in 2005. These cars have similar features to the Bombardier CX-100, but with a more futuristic design (as required by the Land Transport Authority) to complement the futuristic new towns of Sengkang and Punggol. There is a fleet of 41 cars in total for the two LRT lines. Unlike their Bombardier counterparts, the cars of the Sengkang and Punggol LRTs are not designed to be coupled.
