Test ScoresThe Oakland Unified School District mandates that every school publish a public record of their standing on a variety of standardized tests and other quantitative analyses. To view Oakland Tech's scores, see: Executive Summary School Accountability Report Card, 2005-06. BuildingThe school building has been a local landmark since 1986. It resembles the main science building at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During the 1970s when many California schools were being demolished and rebuilt for earthquake safety, Tech's main building was declared too historic to tear down. Instead, it was gutted and rebuilt on the inside to preserve its historic exterior. In the past few years the exterior of Tech has been repainted. The school's approximate racial makeup is 62.6% African American or Black, 20.2% Asian/Pacific Islander, 11.2% Hispanic, and 5.6% White.
