Positioning

The term positioning has more than one meaning:

• In marketing, see Positioning (marketing)
• In telecommunications, see Positioning (telecommunications)
• In grappling, see Grappling position
• In editing, positioning may determine the allocation of text on a page

• "Positioning" is also the term for the careful placement of objects
  • by the use of precise navigation: for example, in the term "Global Positioning System" (which often refers rather to finding than getting into the position). Then positioning may include not just the location, but also the bearing of the positioned object. See Real time locating.

• "Positioning" is also the term for the careful placement of virtual or other visual objects
  • in computer graphics:
    • window positioning
    • placing HTML objects through CSS markup via the position attribute

Compared to locating any positioning includes such determining of a location prior to the effecting of a position for any object to this location and the orientation of the object in this location.
