The San Sebastián bay

Donostia-San Sebastián (Basque: Donostia, Spanish: San Sebastián, known officially as Donostia-San Sebastián; both names reference the patron saint of the city) is the capital city of the province of Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country, Spain . Its population is 182,930 (2005 estimate).

The city is in the north of the Basque Country, on the southern coast of the Bay of Biscay. San Sebastián's picturesque coastline makes it a popular beach resort.

The city is referred to as Donostia in its own dialect of the Basque language.
