Seminary, A.K.A. "Sem City," is a neighborhood in East Oakland, California. It is located just north of the Elmhurst neighborhood, and is one of the most notorious streets in East Oakland. Seminary's ZIP code is 94621. Seminary is named after Mills College, as the main street running through the neighborhood was the street from the bayshore to what was then known as "The Seminary".
According to the 2000, census, Seminary is 48.6% African American and 41.4% Latino. The median household income is $29,181.
