Wax burning
Traditional Chinese: 煲蠟

Wax burning, also known as wax boiling, typically refers to a folk custom practised in Hong Kong during the Mid-Autumn Festival by children and teenagers. Candle wax is placed in a metal container, such as a moon cake tin, and boiled until it explodes. Due to the potential for injury, the Hong Kong government have illegalised the practise, and advertise heavily against it in the days surrounding the Mid-Autumn festival.
