In her early career she represented the People's Republic of China.
CareerOlympicsZhou played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics for China. In women's singles, she defeated Xu Huaiwen of Germany and Kaori Mori of Japan in the first two rounds. In the quarterfinals, Zhou beat Petya Nedelcheva of Bulgaria 11-4, 11-1 to advance to the semifinals. There, she lost to countrywoman Zhang Ning 11-6, 11-4. Zhou then defeated Gong Ruina, also of China, 11-2, 8-11, 11-6 in the consolation final to win the bronze medal. Hong KongZhou retired from badminton in 2005, but she came back again in 2007 representing Hong Kong, by granting Hong Kong nationality from the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme. [1] References
